Written by Journalist Arwa Aburawa and illustrated by me, our 4 page comic titled Awkward Silences looks at the misperceptions of sexual health within the Muslim community by the NHS.
The piece is part of a larger zine anthology, titled Missing Panels, funded by the University of Leicester- Wellcome Trust ISSF. The aim of the project is to focus on the impact a lack of representation has on the lives and mental health of members of BME communities, illustrating the need for more equal representation as one of their many strategies required to build a more equal society.
